Experiences
I just had a very unpleasant experience with Wayfair. I had ordered an armchair on the understanding that it would be delivered by December 18. The website indicated that the item was “preparing for shipping”, but then the delivery date started changing. First, the chair was to be delivered on December 22, and now the date is December 27! I wanted to have the chair at Christmas, so I decided to cancel my order and look for options. Wayfair, however, had other ideas. Apparently, once your order is “preparing for shipping”, it can’t be cancelled because the item is practically out the door. I contacted customer service, but the agent would not deviate from company policy. First, the reason the order couldn’t be cancelled was that it was “in transit”. What??? If it’s preparing for shipping, how can it be in transit? Even logic did not make any difference. Wayfair had my money and it was keeping it. I could always return the chair when it finally made it to my door. I indicated, quite reasonably I thought, that I did not wish to pay for shipping when the order was proving unsatisfactory through no fault of my own. Oh, well, if it was Wayfair’s error, they would provide a bar code for free shipping. (Note the “if”). So, I can’t do anything until the armchair arrives. Till then, my money ($500 CAD) is tied up and I can’t even try to buy another armchair. Wayfair, I have been a good customer over the years, but this is beyond the pale. I won’t be held hostage. You may have just what I need, but you’ll be getting no more money from me.

I have ordered from Wayfair a few times before, mostly art and small things and haven’t had an issue. Recently I ordered a rocking chair, so my wife can nurse our upcoming baby. My work gave me a gift card as a congratulations (Mastercard gift card). It wasn’t enough to cover the cost so I was going to split it with my own credit card. I couldn’t figure out how to pay with 2 cards on the site so we called customer support and they completed the process for us and told us everything went through and was all good. We threw the gift card away. A couple of weeks later they sent an email with an invoice attached with all the numbers crossed out and replaced with zero’s and that they have cancelled the order. No explanation given. We call to find out what happened and they said that the gift card didn’t go through so they cancelled the entire order. They accuse us of inputting the information wrong and say it’s our fault. We tell them that we called and ordered by phone and that they input the numbers but they didn’t care at all. Multiple back and fourths with customer service, getting different excuses to what happened every time. One person said they would refund the money and send the chair, another said we had to pay again to get the chair and deal with the refund separately, another said they couldn’t do anything and we’d have to start over but they’ll give use a 10% discount card that we have to use within 1 month. End result is the gift card money is not their problem, we have to deal with Mastercard and I have to ask my work if they have a receipt with the numbers or the money is just straight up gone. Wayfair have completely washed their hands of their mistake and never even apologized for putting us through all of this (my wife was in tears a couple of times) or to how their employee messed this up in the first place. I’ve never heard of such poor customer service from a large company like this before and would never consider ordering from them again. It’s all Amazon from here on in.

Very disappointed is Wayfair! I thought this company stood by their online service. Order an outdoor sitting set on sale. 2 days later the order was cancelled due to the pricing being marked incorrectly. Seems like a scam to me! I bought an item, was charged and now its cancelled because they dont want to stand by their product or pricing.

I live in Jamaica and my daughter attends school in Canada. Wanting her to get an idea if living on her own, I went onto Wayfair site to organize bedroom furniture for her. We ordered a full mattress, full bedframe and board ,chest of drawer and side tables. When the items were delivered we got queen bedframe and board along with full mattress. When I called customer service, the response was so robotic, “we can send FedEx or you can organize to get it back to is within 30 days “. I said to the young lady, I am in Jamaica and my daughter is in Canada, she does not drive nor have the $61.00 to send the items back. She repeated the same phrase as above. These companies are quick to accept your order but believe me, the customer service stops right there, try not to have any errors or omissions with your order, you will be on your own. I appologised to my daughter for choosing Wayfair and told her I will absorb the return cost. I WILL NEVER BE CHOOSING WAYFAIR AGAIN FOR ANYTHING, PERIOD

Wasted my time ordering from Wayfair. Delivery date given was the date when their warehouse was receiving my item, not the day I’m going to receive it. And once they received it, they changed the delivery date. Why give bad info? Just supply the correct info when available! When I’m not home to receive it, the FedEx depot is an hour away for me to pick up so I took a day off and this stupid mistake cost me a vacation day. Customer service was useless. I’m never ordering from Wayfair again.
