Awesome food, relaxing environment, well-cared services with detailed explanations and personalised recommendations. Strongly recommends duck liver, lobster and all the cocktails. Chocolate and whiskey tart was cute with interesting flavour. Grill part in menu was worth trying, better not order from main. Neither chicken nor steak tastes above the expectation. Worthwhile visit multiple times either with bar seats or table seats. A little tip, be careful with the exposure of tomatoes in 1/2 lobster!

A great meal in a beautifully renovated old building. Sometimes these open-plan layouts can be too loud and feel overwhelming. But Gimlet was just the right level of noisy, with the tiered levels and booths making the space feel inviting. The service from beginning to end was on point. Drinks arrived promptly. Each course was cleared quickly and the next course well timed. We had the seasonal menu and left very full and very satisfied. One of the best steaks we’ve had in Melbourne.

Excellent service and atmosphere. We were seated at one of the booths which had a lot of staff traffic, which meant our dishes were cleared promptly, the table was always wiped down and our glasses always refilled. Food was served promptly and the ingredients was of high quality, however there was no ‘wow’ factor to the flavours of the mains. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and entrees which I think had some great unique flavours and textures. The mains were very standard meaning they didn’t have unique flavours which would bring me back to Gimlet. The desserts had some interesting flavours which I quite enjoyed. We were celebrating a birthday and I believe there was a miscommunication between the waiters as the dessert with the candle was served to the wrong person which was not an issue at all with us. Finally, at $600+, the food was of great quality but the main dishes lacked uniqueness. The appetisers, entrees and dessert were great and very enjoyable, but I don’t think I’ll be returning if the mains remains to be lack luster.

A vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, this restaurant is a must visit when In Melbourne. A concise menu allows the kitchen to prepare with precision and freshness, with each dish tasting delicious. We opted for the set course and enjoyed a good variety of food, along with a couple gin based cocktails. Service was fantastic with good knowledge of the menu and everything the venue has to offer. Lots of good seating options and best suited for smaller groups. Makes sure you book well in advance to get a spot!

There’s a reason people rave about this place and it’s hard to get in! We managed a walk-in at opening on a Saturday for lunch. Sat at the bar, which I always recommend for the best experience. Spoke to the loveliest bartender Sasha. We were so well taken care of. A true experience filled with incredible cocktails and food. Honestly could not fault the drinks, they are true connoisseurs. Will be back!
