I’m going to start off my complaint by warning every single consumer out there to stay as far away from Outsurance as possible. They are the most unethical insurance company (forget just insurance company, company in general) that I’ve ever dealt with. They are overpriced and the premiums you pay are just ridiculous, it is daylight robbery especially for the pathetic service you receive in return. Our family started with Outsurance when Outsurance themselves just started and that was something like 25 years ago. We were always happy clients, we had all our houses, all our cars, all our businesses, all our belongings, pretty much our whole life insured with Outsurance. Everything goes well up until you have to claim. They take your premium payments monthly with no problems, but when it comes claim time, beware!!!! Just to clarify, this wasn’t the norm, hence we stayed with them for this long. Over the last year (give or take, maybe even a little more), something has changed in their administrative processes and if you have to even try claim from them now, there is no way they will pay your claim. All those adverts about being the best insurer and that they pay majority of claims is a whole lot of false information. All you have to do (if not take my word for it), look at all their reviews on Google, Hello Peter and any other social media channel. The reviews are disturbing and it’s safe to say that Outsurance has lost the plot. My case is definitely not isolated, there are thousands of customers out there complaining about their service, and it is absolutely concerning. If you have a business claim, it’s a problem, if you have a home/personal claim, it’s a problem, even if you have a pet claim, it’s a problem and I’ve experienced this with every single department. It seems as if pet claims have been the biggest and most problematic department from all the videos and comments trending on social media. Trusting Outsurance as much as we did, we cancelled our hassle free pet insurance with MediPet at the time, to move it over when they opened their pet insurance department. What a mistake! We’ve also moved back to MediPet now. Just also to mention, we have had claims paid out (of which it took weeks/months to resolve with lots of fights and escalations, making you feel like a criminal being cross examined for murder) but trust me, if you are lucky enough and they do pay out a claim, please note that they will be tripling your premium in the next premium review period. So they either don’t pay, or if they do pay, it’s a fight to get assistance and on top of that, they triple your premium to punish you for claiming. Claiming is like illegal with Outsurance, you get flagged when you claim and again, they make you feel like you’re a criminal when you do claim. They flag your policy and threaten you, making you scared to claim. What’s the point in having insurance if you can’t claim? So basically, with Outsurance, you don’t always get something out, you always get screwed over. They don’t value their clients, it’s all about money and premiums. They don’t stick to their word, you ask for advice, and they conveniently change what they’ve said at policy inception, to benefit themselves when it comes to claim time. Meaning when it’s time to sign you on, everything and anything is said to ensure you are onboarded quickly. When you submit a claim, they refer back to what was discussed and pretend like they disclosed everything to you and make you out to be a liar, and that’s the basis on which they decline your claims, “your word against theirs”. Then you have 5000 different people and managers calling you to help as no one knows what is happening there. These people are all over the place, the service is just beyond shocking. We are now moving to an insurer that saves us R11k a month for the exact cover. How do they justify the R11k???? Safe to say, we have cancelled all of our policies with Outsurance after about 25 years of loyalty. Believe me when I say, Outsurance should be your last listed option when seeking a new insurer

I have been with Outsurance for 10 years claim free and only now have I required their assistance on a minor bump. 1. I am required to pay excess twice on the same claim because the front windscreen is apparently handled separately even though I indicated from ghe start that the windscreen also cracked. 2. No propper assessment of damage was done, I can only see cosmetically what damage occurred as I am not an expert. How dangerous can this turn out to be if there should be a mechanical issue that was never looked at. 3. No one that I speak to over the phone can assist me. 4. I tried submitting the claim on the online self-help and only after completing all pages a message popped up “oops”. Stay far away from Outsurance, you are no more than just a number to them. Happy to take your money for years on end, but reluctant to fulfill their end of the bargain when matters go south.

I wish I can give you no stars! What a terrible service. I have an executive pet cover plus optional booster cover. My 2 puppies are extremely healthy, never an issue. As a part of my policy is vet visit- unlimited claims. I did their last vaccination and submitted the claim. The consultant phoned me on holidays at 7:05AM stating they cannot honor my claim as it does not cover vet visits. I clearly have it stipulated that it does, even on my app. I am canceling all my policies with “OUTsurance”, and I had many. Will rather go with “Dotsure” and have a peace of mind for my pets, car and household insurance. Shame on you “OUTsurance” for not honoring what is written black on white, shame on you!

Today I cancelled my pet insurance with @OUTsurance and @Checkers because of a claim they refused to pay for routine care. My pet cover has been with Outsurance since 2021. Their policy states only 1 instance of routine care cover per annum (regardless of whether you use the full available value). I vaccinated my pet on 3 April 2023 and now on 27 March 2024. Vets recommend that you do not let vaccinations lapse (exceed 1 year). Outsurance policy is in direct conflict with this. Because I was 6 days early, my pet’s routine vaccination was within the same period and would not be covered. I explained this didn’t make sense and it still effectively is routine care once per annum. Outsurance didn’t budge. If you keep to the terms of your policy, being with Outsurance would go against professional recommendations and be to the detriment of your animal. I cancelled my policy with immediate effect but was left incredibly frustrated and angry at having paid premiums all this time. There’s a reason I switched from Outsurance car insurance and I should’ve known better when looking for pet cover.

Disgusting company, “great” advertising, “we are family”. They took our premiums, (always paid on time for over 10years,) only to be treated like criminals, called “liars” and “fraudsters”! We waited 9 weeks for them to “sort” out our legitimate claim, to be told its been rejected. Don’t touch them!
